Marci & Julie
While creating an enormous fan base at Hyde Park Gym, Marci and Julie have managed to train hard, stay determined, and accomplish some pretty amazing things during the past six months.
Marci performed DXA (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) scan at UT before her first training session and again after the 8th session. In that 2 month time frame, her body fat dropped 2.7% (she lost 4 pounds of fat mass), and gained 1.6 pounds of lean mass. While Julie didn't have DXA scans performed, I am VERY confident her results were at least as remarkable.
Obviously those numbers are impressive, but even more impressive is seeing Marci break free of the dieting yo-yos. Two months following the last DXA scan, I received an email from Marci titled, "a taste of success".
"I've got no one else to share this with, so you get the dubious honor! Since the beginning of July (that last body fat check), I feel like I have gained weight. There was my birthday, then the vacation, then my mother coming into town. I usually won't get on the scale if I feel it's particularly bad. But I know I was up at least 2 pounds from the end of April, so that's 4-5 from beginning July. Now, some of this is water fluctuation, but...
Today, I am below the April weight and only about 2.5 pounds over my absolute lowest recorded weight. This is great for me! To have 4 months of basically maintenance within a 5 pound range or so might be a personal record. In the past, I'd diet down, then regain maybe 10 pounds over the low point before leveling off. Sometimes more. In the past, an upwards trend usually didn't stop before it got really bad. It hasn't been easy, but I'm thrilled!"
